Lookie what I made! :)
Tonight I went to a local knitting circle that I’d heard about from the lady who runs the store where it’s held. I’ve been trying to teach myself to knit since December, without much luck — I kept getting confused and all tangled up! — so I went along tonight to see if I could learn anything. I took along some of my needles, a ball of yarn I had, and a corresponding pattern.
Given we only met for two hours, and had a good giggle along the way, I thought I did very well coming away with this:

Here’s a close-up of the hat itself …

For the knitting buffs among you, it’s Rowan‘s “May” hat (from their book, Big Wool), kitted using Rowan Big Wool in shade 33 “Bubble” (now discontinued) on 15mm (US-19) needles. It’s not as perfect as it could be, but it’s not bad for my first finished project!
Despite feeling quite tired now, I am also feeling rather victorious! :-)
Handmade Gifts…
For Valentine’s Day I’d made a little something, a card for the front of AJV’s gift. It didn’t take too long to cross stitch — around 3hrs 45min — so it was a lovely quick piece to do. And then I framed it in a little red card I’d found, too. Take a peek:

That’s not the only cross stitch project I’ve been working on recently, though. I also finished another small piece, an easy one, which is for my Dad’s birthday next month; all I need to do now is mount and frame it. But this little guy took around 7 hours, all told, and I’m rather pleased with the way he’s turned out:
