Cthulu …
Is it wrong that I should get excited about a pattern to knit Cthulu?
On the needles…
I went to my knitting circle last night, and had a great time. There were a lot there and I thought I would have problems squeezing into the shop but it was okay — there was one last seat! And there was even hot tea in the pot. LOL :)
I spent the evening working on a project which, after some thought, I realised I didn’t want to be doing. It was for a very nice strappy top — but totally unsuitable for the coming months. If I continued working on it, I wouldn’t be able to wear it until next year. :( And so, when I got home I stored it (to continue with in the spring), went through my stash and found some yarn for this lovely jumper, which is what is now on the needles.
I am knitting it in Sirdar Blur, and in a shade called “Down” (number 712), which is a lovely cream colour. I figure it will be something nice and wispy (but hopefully warm) for the winter.
Wish me luck!
Baptism Card…
I’ve a quick cross stitch finish to share — well I say “quick” even though it took me around 12 hours to complete! I suspect it would have taken me less had the lemon thread not kept tangling on every stitch! That said, I ended up doing some colour substitution on this piece — I didn’t have DMC numbers 445 (light lemon) or 742 (light tangerine) and I had no time to go shopping, so I checked DMC’s Online Colour Card and replaced them with numbers 3078 and 741 respectively. I think it worked out just fine.
This was a card I did as a gift for my Dad — I think it turned out beautifully, and he loved it. :-)

Lessons of the Day
Lessons learned so far today:
1) Onions really don’t like me.
2) Graters don’t get on well with my knuckles.
3) Size 28 cross stitch needles snap really easily. :(
Falling Leaves… [1]
I’ve taken a short break from my work on Vervaco’s “Autumn” to work on this lovely piece from Prairie Grove Peddler — it’s called “Falling Leaves“. Here I am at around 5 hours in.

I’ve tackled this one differently this time — instead of starting in the centre of the chart, I started by working the border (108 stitches square — that’s almost 8″!). Then I worked one of the backstitched words so I can locate one of the inner leaves correctly. That’s what I’m stitching now. I’m hoping to stitch the rest of the leaves and inner borders, and leave the rest of the backstitched phrase, along with its French knots, until last. Hopefully it’ll work. ;-)
